Mr. Link was born and raised in Farmington Illinois. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Western Illinois University and a Master of Music Education degree from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago. In addition, he has certification in church music from Perkins School of Theology/Southern Methodist University, and course work in administration from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi. Mr. Link has 19 years of successful teaching experience. His teaching experiences are not limited to orchestra, but in addition he has directed quality bands and choirs. Recently, he taught orchestra at Lewisville High School (2005-2007) where his orchestras received UIL Sweepstakes Awards, Superior Ratings at several contests, along with Best in Class and Best in Festival Awards at the Bayou Music Festival in Houston and the Bluebonnet Classic in San Antonio. Prior to his teaching at Lewisville HS, he taught at Lakeview Middle School with Mrs. Sorgi, the other new orchestra director this year in McKinney. In addition to his teaching responsibilities in Lewisville, he directed members of the Dallas Opera Orchestra for the Metroplex Opera Company.
His collegiate teaching experience includes Louisiana Tech University where he taught a variety of classes in instrumental music conducted the orchestra for musical stage production. He was also an adjunct professor at Monmouth College in Monmouth Illinois.
Mr. Link's accolades include acceptance to the Texas Music Adjudicators Association as a judging member in orchestra, choir, and band based on the outstanding contest ratings of these organizations he has conducted. He has the distinction of being the only music director in the entire of state of Texas to be accepted to the association in all three performance mediums. Recently, he was bestowed the honor by the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers as an Honorary Life Member to the Texas PTA. He has been named to Who's Who Among American Teachers, and also performed as a soloist with various orchestras nationwide. As a singer, he has been a member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus and is also is part-time music director at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Carrollton where he plays piano at the early service, directs the chancel choir and handbell choir.
Mr. Link is very excited to be working with such an outstanding team of orchestra directors. He will be teaching at Dowell and Johnson MS.
